At
12:45am, the Nappyhead Funk Army hit the stage with a funky intro, featuring
The Pearl giving up the funk on some intergalactic, spaced-out synthesizer
riffs!!! Lead vocalist/NHFA general #9 shined vocally on "Funk Army
Mesh". "Funk Infection Y2K+2" featured a little bit of
"Comin' Round the Mountain". That was followed by "Fly on the
Wall" featuring some more hardcore synth funk from The Pearl! "Dirty
Vamp" featured the funkiest vocalist by lead vocalist Red Hot!! "Tear
the Roof Off the Sucka" featured Prez on bass vocals and tight drumming by
The Technician! The guitar funk (by Andre Lassalle and Groovalicious) was
evident on "Every Dog Has Its Day" (specifically, Groovalicious's
tight scratch guitaring) and "Cosmic Slop" (full of hardcore rock
blasting by Andre)!! To
the stage, during the last three minutes of the song, came a Garry Shider-clone
named Dr. Brookenstein.....dressed in a G. Clinton T-shirt and a white nappy
(diaper made from a bath towel)!! ANYTHING TO PUMP THE CROWD UP, I guess!!
"Sexy MF" is where Red Hot got a little nasty as she did the
"Nasty Girl" segment.....actually, it would be better if she got
more "hardcore" (guys would love it) and it would sound better if the
band actually did the music to "Nasty Girl"!! "Red Hot Momma"
featured "I Got a Thang, You Got a Thang, Everybody's Got a Thang",
some smoldering synthesizer riffs on the remote keyboard by Prez (the FUNKY
PREZident!!), and some serious smokin' lead guitaring!! "Jungle
Boogie" was followed by "Bottoms Up", where Eric-Jay did his
rap, Andre set Da Funky Phish afire with hot lead guitarisms, and The General
provided some stank-ass bottom bass!! "Come Together" was a rock
guitar feast with the audience participation at a high level!! "It's What
I Do, It's What I Am" featured a high-powered, heavy bass workout in the
beginning, courtesy of The General!!! "Funkemiftheycan'ttakeajoke"
was as funky as the version during the NHFA's 4th Anniversary Celebration party
two weeks prior. The show ended at 2:50am.
